When we go to smartphone store and want to get new smartphone, then we will asking about device features like battery capacity,
RAM,
ROM,
Operating system, Version,
Camera etc. But no one ask's about
display technology of the smartphone, even people's doesn't consider this factor in
specifications.
Point is that the display is the first thing in any smartphone, we interact with a lot. So why not we don't consider it?
Okay I will explain you, all the display Technologies available in a market and their
advantages,
disadvantages,
properties etc also. Display is the thing, we first interact with it in the Smartphones, so we should know about every display technology for our safety and usability.
Types of Display Technologies:-
1) TN Panel,
2) TFT LCD,
3)SUPER LCD,
4)IPS LCD,
5) AMOLED,
6) RATINA DISPLAY.
These are the mostly Display Technologies used in various Smartphones. Now i explain all display Technologies separately and tell what is best for you.
- TN Panel (Twisted Nematic) :- it is very old display technology used in old desktop computer monitors. At that time Display Technologies are not developed so companies have no other choice to replace it and they have to use it. It is used in cheap Smartphones. My suggestion on TN Panel Display is don't by a smartphone with TN Panel, because it is very harmful for your eyes. Its disadvantages is Colour reproduction is very bad in this, Power consumption is high, Contrast ratio is bad, viewing angels are bad and it is a very thick panel so smartphone will also very thick.
- TFT LCD (Thin Film Transistor) :- this is also LED display which is improvement of TN Panel. But not that great display. The difference is only in thickness, it is slightly thinner in thickness compair to TN Panel. After that, Other things are same. This is also bad for eyes, so don't buy a device which have TFT display.
- Super LCD:- it is another type of LCD display. Not such a huge improvement in TFT display but slightly better than TN Panel. This display not used is much devices. But I am not suggest this one also. But I only mentioned it for Technical purpose.
- IPS LCD (In-Plane Switching):- this is a huge improvement in Previous generation, because it's have advantages like it's super colour accurate, nice contrast ratio, safe for eyes, viewing angels are the best among all, Power consumption is lower than any other LCD display, thin panel to make slim Smartphones. So This Is my suggestion for you to buy a IPS Display Smartphone.
- AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic LED):- this is advanced Display Technology among all the displays available in market now. Because, other display like i mentioned earlier have a backlight panel which have a set of LED. for showing different colours and it is always on, result is power consumption is high in LCD displays. But AMOLED not have a backlight. Its have separate light for every pixel, so if when the black comes out pixels are turned off, result is pure Black screen. Power consumption is also very low in AMOLED if black background is most. Colours are not great as IPS Display but it has advantages like more bright and Vibrant than others. But AMOLED display is use in Premium Flagships, Samsung Smartphones. So it is an expensive for replacement. This is also my Suggestion after IPS Display.
- Ratina Display:- probably its seen in iPhones, this is a marketing term which is Apple Using for make their own Display Technology. Ratina Display is a IPS Display but it has better PPi (Pixels Per inch) for better sharpness and details. iPhone 6s has 326 ppi but now the phones like Samsung S9, LG G6 having more ppi than iPhone 6s , so technically This phones also have a Ratina Display 😂. I want to say, Ratina is not a special technology made by Apple. Its a same as IPS.
So this is the factors you should consider a buying a new smartphone. My Suggestion is Preferred
IPS or
AMOLED display phones for better
quality,
usability and most importantly
Safety.
